Flexible payroll solution enables Entertainments group to easily manage weekly changes in nightclub staff pay
Essex Entertainments has chosen Rutherford Webb’s payroll solution Payrite®® to administer its four weekly and monthly payrolls to over 200 staff. The company chose Payrite® for its ease of use and ability to import data. Staff working hours at the nightclubs are recorded on spreadsheets and then input into Payrite® to administer the payroll, both to provide payslips and to make payments directly into staff bank accounts.
The company administers payslips using Payrite®. The payslip shows the hours that a staff member has worked that particular week. Holiday hours are also shown on the payslip enabling employees to see what holiday entitlement they have accrued. Since the staff work different hours every week, holidays are based on the number of physical hours worked, rather than a set entitlement.
The payroll team also uses the reporting function extensively. The system is used to record if any staff work more than 48 hours in a week, as required by the Working Time Directive. The reports are also used to check for missing personnel information, such as National Insurance numbers. The company is also planning to use the Internet filing facility within Payrite® to carry out year-end P35 e-filing.
According to Jan Bonnington, Director at Essex Entertainments: “Payrite® is easy to use and robust, and we can produce bespoke reports. It is very important for us that staff are paid correctly and on time, and for this reason we prefer to manage payroll in-house. Payrite® enables us to do this.”
Stephen Teal, Managing Director of Rutherford Webb commented, “We have designed Payrite® to be very flexible, making it easy to input and change payroll data. In the entertainment or seasonal holiday industry, where working hours are outside of the traditional nine to five, such a flexible payroll solution is vital to enable them to adapt to the needs of their changing workforce and administer efficient payrolls.”
